Worldwide Virtual Engineering Team Definition Essays Worldwide Virtual Engineering Team Definition Essay Worldwide Virtual Engineering Team Definition Essay This section portrays old examination identified with grouped subjects that impact the adequate utilization of planetary innovation work power by associations. Audit of the writing from academe and industry was performed. The CII PT 170 exploration undertaking on down to earth crews ( Chinowsky and Rojas 2002 ) inspected the goal and achievement factors for using handy crews on endeavors. This examination indicated a portion of the essential parametric amounts furthermore some particular suggestions for functional crews which will be depicted in the undermentioned developments. Another related examination undertaking is from the Center for Integrated Facility Engineering ( CIFE ) , Stanford University that talks about designing and directing trust in down to earth AEC crews ( Zolin et al. 2000 ) . Trust improvement in down to earth crews nowadayss significant difficulties since it is difficult to gauge partners trustiness without ever holding met them ( McDonough et al. 2001 ) . Much writing identified with GVETs is encircled inside the seaward re-appropriating develop. In this manner, foundation writing on seaward redistributing of innovation work including the drive powers, useful crew definition, pay distinction, future propensities, advantages and disadvantages is introduced. Worldwide reasonable innovation crew developments identified with building ; bearing ; association ; undertaking control ; and crew conveying are other than depicted. 3.1. Innovation Servicess : A superior perceptual encounter of innovation crews requires a dread of the meaning of innovation. The International Technology Education Association ( 2004 ) characterizes innovation as influencing the insight of the numerical and regular logical orders ( organic and physical ) picked up by study, understanding, and example that are applied with judgment and imagination to create approaches to utilize the stuffs and powers of nature to serve world. Building work is viewed as an iterative technique of plan and investigation. There are numerous stages-arranging, structure, manufacture or assembling, thus activity ( see Figure 2 ) . Each measure requires the achievements and expertness of an applied researcher in various manners. The finishing up measure may require an applied researcher to run, become familiar with the activity, or sell a product ( Simpson 2004 ) . Configuration work could be performed by an outside applied researcher thus the plan could be tried nearby, fabricated seaward, or sent back to the U.S. for demonstrating, additional plan work, or manufacture. Or on the other hand the product or methodology could be planned completely in the U.S. furthermore, the plan sent to another country to be produced and the made product be come back to the U.S. ( Simpson 2004 ) . 3.2. Worldwide Virtual Engineering Team Definition A definition from writing reappraisal and undertaking crew input was created. Chime and Kozlowski ( 2002 ) began to indicate crews with the main highlights that separate down to earth crews from regular crew ( see Figure 3 ) . The most basic and of import quality of handy crews is that they cross limits of boundless ( Bell and Kozlowski 2002 ) . While the individuals from customary crews work in close propinquity to each other, the individuals from pragmatic crews are isolated, regularly by numerous detail mis or even landmasses ( Townsend et al. 1996 ) . Albeit numerous conventional, restricted crews other than impart through modernized conveying media, building, for example, picture conferencing is ordinarily utilized by viable crew individuals to enhance their uncommon up close and personal conveying ( Bell and Kozlowski 2002 ) . In genuinely assembled crews, individuals from the crew are probably going to hold comparative and integral social and instructive foundations since they have experienced a similar enrolling and decision processs as they are utilized by a similar association ( Pawar 2000 ) . In a useful crew the individuals may change in their guidance, human progress, semantic correspondence, cut direction and expertness. There can other than be clashing hierarchical and individual closures among the individuals from a viable crew ( Pawar 2000 ) . When discovering whether a useful crew is entrained by existent clasp or is circulated across cut ( see Figure 4 ) , it is of import to see the designing the crew utilizes ( Bell and Kozlowski 2002 ) . Certain signifiers of synchronal imparting engineerings, for example, videoconferencing, permit reasonable crews to interface in existent clasp despite the fact that significant stretches and clasp zones separate crew individuals. While different offbeat signifiers of conveying designing, for example, electronic mail, result in more noteworthy transient dispersion, in any event, when crew individuals are arranged in cut ( Bell and Kozlowski 2002 ) . Virtual crews every now and again cross utilitarian, authoritative, as well as social limits. Be that as it may, the evaluation to which these limits, once crossed, are penetrable is relied upon to rely upon the idea of the endeavors the crew performs. Essentially, the lifecycles of reasonable crews are generally controlled by the idea of e ndeavors these crews perform. At the point when the endeavors a viable crew performs are unpredictable and testing, the crew is required to almost certain keep up a steady crew rank and build up an increasingly continuous lifecycle. At the point when endeavors are less unpredictable all things considered, a pragmatic crew is relied upon to have the option to work effectually with a unique crew rank and a progressively unmistakable lifecycle ( Bell and Kozlowski 2002 ) . The interest to create rationality and coaction among colleagues is least and the evaluation of associate among colleagues is as often as possible non basic ( Bell and Kozlowski 2002 ) . As the endeavors a commonsense crew is required to execute go progressively unpredictable and testing, requiring more noteworthy degrees of expertness and specialization, a higher premium is relied upon to be put on synchronal work process understandings and the elements of single crew individuals will be bound to be plainly characte rized, fixed, and momentous ( Bell and Kozlowski 2002 ) . Under states of low endeavor multifaceted nature, all things considered, there is least commonality among colleagues and increasingly offbeat work process understandings are required to be embraced. In these condition of affairss, useful crew individuals can keep different capacities without trading off the effectives of the crew ( Bell and Kozlowski 2002 ) . Townsend et Al. ( 1998 ) characterized pragmatic crews as gatherings of topographically as well as authoritatively spread associates that are amassed using a blend of broadcast communications and data engineerings to help through a hierarchical endeavor. Morris et Al. ( 2002 ) characterized a useful association as an association built of deliberate connections bolstered by data designing to show signs of improvement of confinements of clasp as well as area to run into explicit points. They further characterized commonsense crews as the utilization of the viable association development at the workgroup degree to make temporary crews that may navigate useful and authoritative limits for the fruition of a particular endeavor. Jarvenpaa and Leidner ( 1999 ) characterized a down to earth crew as a transformative signifier of a web association empowered by progresss in data and conveying building. Steinfield et Al. ( 2001 ) characterized down to earth crews as crews in which communication and coaction takes topographic point among geologically disseminated and every now and again socially dissimilar people. Kristof et Al. ( 1995 ) characterized viable crews as self-guided comprehension work crews with circulated expertness that is liquid in footings of rank, driving, and limits ( practical, authoritative, and topographical ) . Kristof et Al. ( 1995 ) other than characterized a planetary VT as an ephemeral, socially different, geologically scattered, electronically pass oning work gathering. From the greater part of the definitions found, the core features of all definitions were comparative. Another extremely straightforward definition by Prasad and Akhilesh ( 2002 ) characterized a planetary commonsense crew as a crew with circulated expertness and that ranges across limits of clasp, geographics, nationality and human progress. Stough et Al. ( 2000 ) characterized the virtual/worldwide/arranged crew as another way of shaping planetary work powers to handle a data age chance for assembling covered work power through the use of the PC interceded imparting engineerings to show signs of improvement of the boundaries made by geological separation and time. aëâ â ¦ . The handy crew comprises of a gathering of individuals who team up intently despite the fact that they are isolated by interminable ( including national limits ) , cut, and authoritative hindrances. Montoya-Weiss et Al. ( 2001 ) characterized a planetary down to earth crew as a gathering of topographically and transiently spread people who are amassed by means of building to help through an association undertaking. Chinowsky and Rojas ( 2002 ) characterized a handy crew as a gathering of individuals with reciprocal skills put to deathing correspondent, synergistic work forms through electronic media without regard to geographic area. Analysis of an Advertisement Essay Example For Students
Analysis of an Advertisement Essay With red letters one and a half inches tall, this advertisement screams Couch for sale. In this advertisement, the advertisers want the consumer to sell their couch. It is an automobile they are trying to sell me. Why would I need to get rid of the furniture in my house? In smaller white text across the bottom of the two pages, the ad goes on to explain that the only enemy of the Nissan Xterra sports utility vehicle is the fluffy cushions of a sofa. How could an automobile maker get consumers to believe that two inanimate objects are natural enemies? Moreover, is that really what Nissan wants consumers to believe so consumers will buy the Xterra truck? This advertisement is in the October, 2000 Backpacker magazine and takes up two full pages. The advertisement is for the new Nissan Xterra sport utility vehicle. This advertisement consists of four colors red, black, silver and white. Red is used for most of the words in the advertisement. The red text is used to describe how this produ ct can improve the consumers way of life, and some of the features the Xterra has. The white text is meant to tell the consumer the draw back of the Xterra. The only draw back the advertisement lists is a couch. So the consumers eyes are not distracted, black is used as the background color. Silver is the color of the Xterra. The only text in the advertisement that is easy to read is Couch for Sale, which is on the left hand page, and Nissan Xterra which is in the lower right corner of the second page. Along with the black background, all of the pictures are also dark. The pictures have fog or some kind of mystical looking clouds in them. Also, all of the people in the pictures are dressed in dark clothing. All of the lighting appears to be natural; it is just that the pictures were taken on gloomy days and in the wilderness. The overall appearance of the advertisement is dark. The choice of colors and the way the pictures appear give the advertisement a look of danger. For instance , the way the trees are blurred as the Xterra speeds down the dirt road. The large picture of the Xterra shows the truck zooming down a dirt road on its way to another adventure. In this advertisement, the color silver has been chosen for the Xterra. So, I wonder why Nissan picked boring silver instead of bright yellow? I think it is because Nissan feels the Xterra does not need to be flashy. Nissan is trying to convince the consumer that the Xterra is not just for show. There are plenty of pretty sport utility vehicles out there; the Xterra is a rugged truck. In addition, it could also be because silver is one of the top selling colors of automobiles. In the middle of the four pictures is the text ââ¬Å"YOUR LEFT HAND LOVES CANDLELIGHT. YOUR RIGHT HAND LOVES THE SPOTLIGHT. YOUR LEFT HAND DECLARES YOUR COMMITMENT. YOUR RIGHT HAND IS A DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE. WOMEN OF THE WORLD RAISE YOUR RIGHT HAND.â⬠After those words are the companyââ¬â¢s slogan ââ¬Å"A Diamond Is Forever. â⬠The pictures, text, and slogan of this advertisement work together to make it one that affectively captures the audiencesââ¬â¢ attention. The purpose of an advertisement is to sell a product. Clearly, a person flipping through the pages of a magazine will be captured by the sparkling diamond and bold text. The advertisement is simple rather than one that is complex and difficult to understand. And the designer of this ad knows this. There is nothing more appealing to a woman than a sparkling diamond. The sparkling diamond catche. .her eyes is mesmerizing. For any male, this would pull them right into the ad. Hoping to get the same look from his significant other, he would purchase a diamond for her. Also, the ad demonstrates a diamond as being a symbol of love. By talking about candlelight and commitment, romance and love is brought into perspective. The picture of this ad reminds men that diamonds are what every woman wants and that their love will last forever with a purchase of a diamond. When a reader looks at this ad, he or she is likely to be stunned by it. Its simplicity makes it easy to read and understand. Its boldness grabs your attention. And its slogan allows you to identify with its message on a personal note. Not only does the picture on the ad make diamonds look beautiful and elegant, but also the text and slogan make diamonds seem exotic and powerful.

Free Essays on Desertification
Desertification has its greatest impact in Africa. Two thirds of the continent is desert or drylands. There are extensive agricultural drylands, almost three quarters of which are already degraded to some degree. The region is afflicted by frequent and severe droughts. Many African countries are landlocked, have widespread poverty, need external assistance, and depend heavily on natural resources for subsistence. They have difficult socio-economic conditions, insufficient institutional and legal frameworks, incomplete infrastructure, and weak scientific, technical, and educational capacities. These difficult circumstances explain why African countries have put so much effort into convincing the international community of the need for a "Convention to Combat Desertification in Those Countries Experiencing Serious Drought and/or Desertification, Particularly in Africa". Africa's desertification is strongly linked to poverty, migration, and food security. In many African countries, combating desertification and promoting development are virtually one and the same due to the social and economic importance of natural resources and agriculture. When people live in poverty, they have little choice but to over-exploit the land. When the land eventually becomes uneconomic to farm, these people are often forced into internal and cross-border migrations, which in turn can further strain the environment and cause social and political tensions and conflicts. Whether HSE is genuine or not in the evidence of difference in the Assignment
Whether HSE is genuine or not in the evidence of difference in the potential health hazard between workers at the two operations - Assignment Example Exposure to respiratory particles of crystalline silica is associated with several human diseases such as cancer and lung diseases. The disease risk is related to both the total dose and duration of silica exposure. Silicosis, a nodular pulmonary fibrosis, is the disease most associated with exposure to respirable crystalline silicavi. Studies have shown that exposure to crystalline silica can lead to physiological changes, disease and death. There is a reliable link between cumulative silica dust exposure and increased mortality from lung cancer. Calvert et al. found a relationship between crystalline silica exposure and rheumatoid arthritis. Meijer et al. showed significant association between exposure to concrete dust and a small lung infection. xii. There are a number of factors that influence the development of silicosis and these include size of particles, and concentration of silica particles in the air duration of exposurexiiixiv. RSAxv noted that chronic silicosis is mainly the result of long term exposure and that accelerated silicosis can develop after five to ten years of exposure. Morfeldxvi concluded that no other non-malignant health effect due to RCS is as specific and so clearly linked to RCS as silicosis. Research Questions 1. Is there any difference in the health of the workers in the two operations? 2. What associations exist, if any, between length of service and recorded health effect? These research questions will be answered through a hypothesis testing. As Dythamxvii noted, hypothesis testing is the cornerstone of scientific analysis. Tests are carried out to determine whether a stated hypothesis is correct. The hypothesis is rejected or accepted based on the P-values observed. Usually, the null hypothesis (the hypothesis that nothing is going on) is the one that is accepted or rejected based on the calculated probabilities. Most research will accept or reject a hypothesis at 95% level of confidence. Thus if the calculated p-values from a hypothesis test is less than 5% (or 0.05), we reject the null hypothesis and accept the alternative hypothesis. For this study, the alternative hypotheses for which the null hypotheses were tested were: H1: There is a difference in the health of workers in brick and tile operations. H2: There is a statistically significant association between length of service and recorded health effect. Study Methodology Primary data was collected from a sample of 65 workers randomly selected for blood testing, 38 from brick operations and 27 from tile operations. The study collected data on their identity, the sectors in which they worked, the length of service of each employee, their ages, and health. Following Dythamxviii, the first hypothesis was tested using independent samples t-test since the data was unpaired and the dependent variable was a continuous variable. Minitab 16 was used to perform a two-sample t-test to assess whether there were any differences in the health of workers in the two operations. The existence of association between length of service and recorded health effect was assessed using the Pearsonââ¬â¢s product-moment correlation. Descriptive Results Descriptive results are presented and show the number of observations (N), mean, standard deviation, minimum values, first quartile (Q1), median, third quartile (Q3), maximum values, skewness and kurtosis. The normality tests are also shown together with the descriptive results. These are graphically presented for the three main variables of the study namely age (years), length of service (years), and % of damaged cells. Figure 1: Descriptive

What explains today's high degree of global financial integration Essay
What explains today's high degree of global financial integration - Essay Example lobal integration in the financial market has given the opportunities to the investors to diversify the risks and to access the financial products in a more easy way. (Agarwal, n.d.) The functionalities of the process of globalization has been motivated by heterogeneous factors, such as gradual increase of trade in goods and services, increase of free movement of capital across international borders, increase of international mobility of labor and increase of global technological transfers. The impact of international movement of capital and global financial integration on the developing countries experienced a dramatic change in the early 1990s with the enhancement of financial deregulation in many countries. (Wolf 2005) This is the period when the free capital movement from the developed and industrial nations to the developing nations had started to rise vividly which was seen through the increase in growth of the developing nations. However, during this era the globe has also seen a sequence of financial crises across many countries. In one hand many developed countries faced the financial crises, such as the 1992 and 1993 financial crises of the developed c ountries in the European Exchange Rate Mechanism (ERM). On the other hand the developing nations also faced such crises, like the Mexican Tequila crisis in 1995, 1997 and 1998 Asian crises, the Latin American and the Russian crises from 1998 to 2000 etc. All these crises that were seen throughout different part of the globe gradually proved that there lies an inherent risk of the international financial integration behind its benefit. The international financial integration through the opening of the cross border financial markets is a multifarious phenomenon that involves in unrestricting the movement of foreign direct investment (FDI) from the developed countries to the developing countries and pulling up the regulations from both the short term and long term financial instruments which are responsible

Biomedical and Biopsychosocial Models of Healthcare
Biomedical and Biopsychosocial Models of Healthcare Critical Evaluation on the Future of Healthcare: The Biomedical or the Biopsychosocial Model The Biomedical Model This model has been in existence since the mid-19th century and was predominant for physicians in the diagnosis of diseases. It comprises of four elements. It argues that, that health constitutes the freedom of pain, disease or defect which implies the normal human is healthy. In this model, the focus on the physical processes such as biochemistry, physiology and pathology of a disease do not take into consideration the role played by individual subjectivity or social factors. Unlike the biopsychosocial model, the biomedical model fails to consider negotiation between a doctor and patient in determining diagnosis. The main focus in this model is purely biological factors. It excludes social influences, environment and the psychological ones. Western countries have adopted it as a leading modern way for which health professionals treat and diagnose conditions. Regardless of the limitations that this model expresses, it has been critical in the development of programs to control infect ious diseases. In addition, it feeds more information to the biopsychosocial approach (White, 2009). The Biopsychosocial Model This is an approach that states that psychological, social and biological factors all play a key role in the human functioning in relation to illness and disease. Health is thus understood by concentrating on biological, social and psychological factors rather than entirely focusing on biological terms. It contrasts to biomedical model. Biomedical model takes the position that every disease process can be explained in accordance to deviations in normal functions such as injury, developmental abnormality in genes or virus (White, 2009). This model is used in the fields of medicine, health sociology and psychology and nursing. The acceptance, novelty and prevalence of the biopsychosocial model demonstrates variation across cultures. The model has been developing over time and will only mature further with health psychology designs and research. The Future of Healthcare The biopsychosocial model is at the heart of the future of healthcare. Specialization in healthcare has advanced to fields of health psychology, psychiatry, chiropractic, clinical psychology, family therapy and clinical social work. Majority of clinicians will engage the elements of biopsychosocial and biomedical models in the practices they engage in. However, it is arguable that all illnesses whether functional or organic can be managed best going by the biopsychosocial framework rather than the biomedical in practice. The two models seem to share the same goal which is improving the improvement of the patientââ¬â¢s well-being. What differs is the scope on which the physician considers impairment including its origin and the possible remedies. The biopsychosocial framework expands the meaning of this goal and applies it in clinical processes. Illness is approached as the subjective sense of suffering by the patient. The goal of managing the disease thus needs to identify the spe cific exposures of the patient which are biological, social and psychological. Potential Disabilities of the Biomedical Model The biomedical model will lose its position in the future of healthcare as it assumes that social and psychological processes are irrelevant to the diseaseââ¬â¢s process. The potential disabilities it exposes are massive. It mainly has three liabilities. First, the model is reductionist in nature. It reduces illness to lower level processes. These include chemical imbalances and disordered cells. It thus fails to recognize the general role of psychological and social determinants. Secondly, the model is a single-factor model. The explanation for illness is in terms of biological malfunctions rather that recognition of a variety of factors with only a few being biological in the causation of illness. The third liability is that the model assumes a mind-body dualism. It maintains that the body and mind are two separate entities. The final but not least liability is that the model puts more emphasis on illness over health. The focus is aberrations that cause illness instead of the co nditions that would promote health. Advantages and Clinical Implications of the Biopsychosocial Model Medical care, illness and disease are interrelated processes. They involve interaction of changes both within the individual and other levels. Researchers are thus impelled by this framework toward an interdisciplinary collaboration and thinking. The model maintains that the diagnosis process should consider the interacting roles of social, psychosocial and biological factors. This calls for interdisciplinary team approach in making a diagnosis. Health psychology should adopt this model and involve all the three factors. Therapy is thus uniquely targeted to a particular individual considering their healthââ¬â¢s totality and ensuring treatment recommendations capable of dealing with more than one problem systematically. Therefore, a team approach is encouraged as the best approach. The relationship between a doctor and a practitioner is emphasized by the biopsychosocial model. The efficacy of treatment, the rapidity of solving an illness and the patientââ¬â¢s service usage can be improved by an effective practitioner-patient relationship. The biopsychosocial model makes the implication that the physician must have a clear understanding of the psychological and social factors that make contributions to an illness in order to come up with ample treatment (Kim,2014). For a healthy individual, the model is of the opinion that their health habits can only be understood in social and psychosocial contexts. When an individual is ill, recovery can be influenced by psychological, biological and social factors. These factors may maintain poor health habits but when there is appropriate modifications, they facilitate healthy ones. Biopsychosocial Perspectives Psychosomatics, Behavior and Health Depression, social isolation, conscientiousness and chronic stress are all understood by medical colleagues and health psychologists alike in the impacting of the vulnerability and the protection of various diseases. There is a consistent correlation of clinical depression with pathogenesis and occurrence of cardiovascular diseases. In a study in 2009, Salomon examined the existing differences in reactivity of cardiovascular to and recovery from two lab stressors between healthy controls with no self-reported history of CVD samples and naturalistic samples of clinically depression (Nezu, 2013). With previous research demonstrating significant behavioral associations and psychosomatic among illness, health and disease, the BPS model should focus on bringing into play analytic complexity fighting individualistic. Review of neuroplasticity, socio-somatic and psychosocial genomics will assist in balancing individualistic bias for health psychology, provision of sophisticated and adequate understanding of the cultural and social contours underlying illness and health thus fostering a greater integration among domains of bio-psycho-social. Psychosocial Genomics and Neuroplasticity Advances in genetics and molecular biology have given way to the map out of human genome. There have been spectral and technological imaging advances such as allowing of examining complex neurological processes and functional magnetic resonance. These movements in science have resulted to empirical investigations, psychosocial genomics and neuroplasticity which thus offers important evidence in relation to the interdependence nature of socio-cultural, biological and psychological processes. Research on neuroplasticity goes further to justify the biopsychosocial framework. This is because, the study indicates that the brain neurons are more dynamic than had previously been considered. They develop novel synaptic connections in response to learning and experience across age and mainly the entire life (Kim, 2014). Biopsychosocial further elaborates on the impact of social support. Within many studies, more satisfying social relationships or confidants result to an individual recovering more quickly from illnesses and diseases as compared to those with minimal social support. Culture in the Biopsychosocial Model Culture evolves over the years. It carries with it vagueness and contention. Culture is informatory. It influences every founding block of the BPS model. Failure to demonstrate adequate to the key role of culture in health psychology and related medical fields would result to the discrimination in health service delivery. For a more holistic approach therefore in heath psychology, culture should be considered seriously in attempts to integrate the BPS model. Biopsychosocial Model Transformations and the Future: Health Psychology Health psychologyââ¬â¢s emergence together with behavioral medicine in primary care settings and general practitioners training on various health paradigms have resulted to an awareness for which patients now understand that the medical providers view them as a person and not merely by the disease. For the past two decades, the research of health psychologists and the behavioral interventions have matured greatly together with high criticism. Patient quality of life and wellness has been observationally been improved by the humanistic view by the psychologists. To fully solidify the role of combinatory treatments and psychologists, it is necessary to conduct long-term empirical studies. Doctors however question the motive of the alteration of medicine for the incorporation of behavioral interventions which tend to increase the workload of the physicians who are already strained. Research, vast knowledge on behavior education skills are applied by psychology practitioners should be used in the promotion of a medical care that is more hospital co-managed. Health care and societal transformations constrain psychology from change. Psychology seeks to deliver expansion on the special skills of health and clinical psychology. Psychopharmacology is the latest intervention in the creation of a psychologist practitioner who is independent. Psychologists must look for and maintain an inter-professional collaboration with physicians in order to ensure prescription authority and psychology. The psychosocial aspects of medical problems are then addressed. Quality of treatment may be affected by poor relationships between physicians and psychologists. Collaborations and partnerships in the management and diagnosis of all health will be observed in the decades to come. Training programs in health psychology will increase in terms of quantity. There will be specialization for students who have interest in the practice of research, clinical and education settings (Kim, 2014). The policy makers and the professionals such as teachers require training and education on the biopsychosocial model. The impact of this on healthcare would be the reduction of health costs, improved occupational control, promotion of self-empowerment, provocation of behavioral change and an increment in adherence to plans of treatment. Integrated healthcare will eventually address the complete spectrum of the mind and the human body as one and the same. A Holistic Approach in the Application of the Biopsychosocial model in the future of Health Psychology The biomedical model of disease and health is dominant in the existing medical practices. The approach is effective mainly in the control of infectious maladies. Chronic non-infectious diseases require the BPS approach. The approach takes into account other health determinants. That thus takes the BPS model a step further into the better approach than the biomedical model. However, a more holistic approach in the biopsychosocial approach is one that integrates culture into the focus of biological, psychological and biological aspects. Taking culture into the picture for the future will result to a more holistic approach. The future health research programs and intervention strategies should endure at considering all the domains and that will be a holistic approach. The BPS model will keep on maturing with time. To this regard therefore, there should be an examination of the effectiveness of cultural, social, biological and physiological claims. It should be conducted in clinical practice exploring the health concepts from perspectives and questioning perspectives could influence the current and future trends in health interventions and health promotion. Conclusion The future of health care lies more on the biopsychosocial approach more than the biomedical one. However, as demonstrated in the research and advancements in the health psychology, there are still aspects of the BPS model that could be involved in the future. One of them could be an increased collaboration and participation amongst psychologists and physicians. They should collaborate to ensure that wellbeing is attained by effective application of the model. The aspect of culture should also be included in the framework to ensure that the health services are acceptable in various communities. Clinical implications are at the heart of the improvement of the biopsychosocial approach. Health psychology and biomedical research will act as key building blocks in the future role of the model. Caring for An Angina Patient Essay -- Nursing Essays
Nurses play a very important role in managing a patient from the moment of his admission up to making a discharge plan. Each part of the nursing process is vital to the wellbeing of the person he is taking care of. Clinical reasoning is always essential in each part of the nursing process from assessment, setting up goals and intervention. Effective nursing management is done when a nurse looks for the early and right cues at the right patient and implementing it at the right time. Advertising in Schools: in Public Education System Essay
Throughout the United States, the faltering economy has drastically affected the employment and income of its citizens, consequently resulting in the deterioration of public education system. In our San Diego Unified district alone, it is estimated that the budget deficit will reach $80 million (ââ¬Å"VoiceofSanDiegoâ⬠). The lack of funding towards public schools could possibly hinder the attendantsââ¬â¢ ability to learn and advertising from corporate sponsorships could provide the necessary revenue to close the schools budget gaps. According to the National Education Association it is estimated that 100,000 schoolteachers nationwide lost their jobs preceding the start of the school year, to protect the employment of our districts schoolteachers drastic modifications must be implemented. Plausible solutions are to mirror the example of Minnesotaââ¬â¢s St. Francis School District who under economic hardships gained $230,000 from the selling of ad space thus protecting the jobs of their employees. See more: The stages of consumer buying decision process essay However, critics argued the advertisements might impede a childââ¬â¢s learning, this problem can be solved with ease by promoting brand names in our yearbooks or scoreboards that have little affect on the education of the students and would still bring substantial profit to our school. The selling of ad space in school buses can also offset the daunting costs of educational equipment and vital school programs. Our schools transportation system has recently made cut-backs due to lack of funds, however by displaying local sponsors, the profits can be incorporated back to the schools budget. Being that the target audience is passing spectators, the ads have no negative affect on the students and ââ¬Å"School districts say itââ¬â¢s practically free money and advertisers love the captive audience school buses provide,â⬠quoted ABC News. Averaging a rate of $230 per month, one meager school bus advertisement stands to make $2,300 in the school year where a majority of the reven ue goes directly to the school district. Sponsored advertising could benefit the financial shortcomings of our schools on all aspects; yet, criticizers continue to repudiate the progress because the advertisements easily captivate a highly susceptible audience. This detrimental factor can be used to the advantage of faculty and parents with constructive advertising. Endorsements that promote a healthy lifestyle and diet rather than sugary sweets can aid in the development of our minors. Similarly, ads such as publishing associations could pay to endorse books and other didactic apparatuses in libraries or classrooms that would encourage learning for schoolchildren. For these reason corporate advertising can be accepted into our schools without the apprehension of children being negatively influenced. These economic problems pertain especially to our district and plausible solutions should be exercised. Scripps Ranch High School can adopt these techniques to ease the budget deficit; envision our school advocating a sponsor s uch as KPBS in our library or even our sports teams exhibiting sponsored attire of Puma for the sale of ad space. Our school does not have to brave this recession with only cut backs it is time to raise our commission for a change, for the sole benefit of our school. Nationwide, the current economic downturn has forced schools to employ budget cuts and teacher terminations. Advertising in our schools could become an efficient means of alleviating the budget deficit and the extra revenue would go towards preserving the jobs teachers and other school programs. This source of unrestricted revenue is difficult to deny and our school can hardly afford to surrender more extracurricular activities. To protect the sanctity of Scripps Ranch Highââ¬â¢s superb educational system additional income must be utilized and with minimal effects, corporate advertising is an unparalleled example of a money generator.

Great Triumvirate Clay, Webster, and Calhoun
The Great Triumvirate was the name given to three powerful legislators, Henry Clay, Daniel Webster, and John C. Calhoun, who dominated Capitol Hill from the War of 1812 until their deaths in the early 1850s. Each man represented a particular section of the nation. And each became the primary advocate for that regions most important interests. Therefore the interactions of Clay, Webster, and Calhoun over the course of decades embodied the regional conflicts which became central facts of American political life. Each man served, at various times, in the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. And Clay, Webster, and Calhoun each served as secretary of state, which in the early years of the United States was generally regarded as a stepping stone to the presidency. Yet each man was thwarted in attempts to become president. After decades of rivalries and alliances, the three men, while widely regarded as titans of the U.S. Senate, all played major parts in closely watched Capitol Hill debates that would help forge the Compromise of 1850. Their actions would effectively delay the Civil War for a decade, as it provided a temporary solution to the central issue of the times, slavery in America. Following that last great moment at the pinnacle of political life, the three men died between the spring of 1850 and the fall of 1852. Members of the Great Triumvirate The three men known as the Great Triumvirate: Henry Clay of Kentucky, represented the interests of the emerging West.à Clay first came to Washington to serve in the U.S. Senate in 1806, filling out an unexpired term, and returned to serve in the House of Representatives in 1811. His career was long and varied, and he was probably the most powerful American politician to never live in the White House.à Clay was known for his oratorical skills and also for his gambling nature, which he developed in card games in Kentucky.Daniel Webster of New Hampshire, and later Massachusetts, represented the interests of New England and the North in general.à Webster was first elected to Congress in 1813, after becoming known in New England for his eloquent opposition to the War of 1812.à Known as the greatest orator of his time, Webster was known as ââ¬Å"Black Danâ⬠for his dark hair and complexion as well as a grim side of his personality. He tended to advocate for federal policies that would help the industrializing North.John C. Calhoun of South Carolina, represented the interests of the South, and particularly the rights of southern slave owners.à Calhoun, a South Carolina native who had been educated at Yale, was first elected to Congress in 1811.à As the champion of the South, Calhoun instigated the Nullification Crisis with his advocacy of the concept that states did not have to follow federal laws. Generally depicted with a fierce look in his eyes, he was a fanatical defender of the slave-owning South, arguing for decades that slavery was legal under the Constitution and Americans from other regions had no right to denounce it or try to restrict it. Alliances and Rivalries The three men who would eventually be known as the Great Triumvirate would have first been together in the House of Representatives in the spring of 1813. But it was their opposition to the policies of President Andrew Jackson in the late 1820s and early 1830s that would have brought them into a loose alliance. Coming together in the Senate in 1832, they tended to oppose the Jackson administration. Yet the opposition could take different forms, and they tended to be more rivals than allies. In a personal sense, the three men were known to be cordial and respect each other. But they were not close friends. Public Acclaim for the Powerful Senators Following Jacksonââ¬â¢s two terms in office, the stature of Clay, Webster, and Calhoun tended to rise as the presidents occupying the White House tended to be ineffectual (or at least appeared to be weak when compared to Jackson). And in the 1830s and 1840s the intellectual life of the nation tended to focus on public speaking as an art form. In an era when the American Lyceum Movement was becoming popular, and even people in small towns would gather to hear speeches, the Senate speeches of people like Clay, Webster, and Calhoun were regarded as notable public events. On days when Clay, Webster, or Calhoun was scheduled to speak in the Senate, crowds would gather to gain admission. And though their speeches could go on for hours, people paid close attention. Transcripts of their speeches would become widely read features in newspapers. In the spring of 1850, when the men spoke on the Compromise of 1850, that was certainly true. The speeches of Clay, and especially Websterââ¬â¢s famous ââ¬Å"Seventh of March Speech,â⬠were major events on Capitol Hill. The three men essentially had a very dramatic public finale in the Senate chamber in the spring of 1850.. Henry Clay had put forth a series of proposals for compromise between the slave and free states. His proposals were seen as favoring the North, and naturally John C. Calhoun objected. Calhoun was in failing health and sat in the Senate chamber, wrapped in a blanket as a stand-in read his speech for him. His text called for a rejection of Clays concessions to the North, and asserted that it would be best for the slave states to peacefully secede from the Union. Daniel Webster was offended by Calhouns suggestion, and in his speech on March 7, 1850, he famously began, I speak today for the preservation of the Union. Calhoun died on March 31,1850, only weeks after his speech concerning the Compromise of 1850 was read in the Senate. Henry Clay died two years later, on June 29, 1852. And Daniel Webster died later that year, on October 24, 1852.

Essay on Main Themes in The Green Mile - 1473 Words
One of the main themes in ââ¬Å"The Green Mileâ⬠is death. It encapsulates the whole novel, leaving the reader to think deeply about their fate. Itââ¬â¢s an obvious theme, considering the story takes place on death row. However, further analysis reveals a deeper meaning than men dying in the electric chair for their crimes. ââ¬Å"And I think about all of us. Walking our own green mile; each in our own time.â⬠(Pg 434) Paul said. The reader will discover that the Green Mile itself is a metaphor for death. Paul compared life at the Green Mile to life for a free citizen, because both lifestyles will end in the same way. Death is inevitable. For the prisoners, they have a set number of days until their execution, so their ââ¬Å"Green Mileâ⬠is relatively short. Aâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦But Paul was going to try. He was trying to release John at all costs, he knew it was an injustice. When he consults John about his potential release, he adamantly refuses. He t hought the world was far too of cruel a place to live any longer, and he knew the electric chair was his fate. Kingââ¬â¢s trying to challenge the readerââ¬â¢s beliefs. The reader might ask: Is justice always served in the legal system? These are questions one must ask oneself. Just because a person looks intimidating and is convicted of a crime, they arenââ¬â¢t always guilty. Stephen King is simply trying to say that the legal system can have its flaws. One must look past physical appearance and find sufficient evidence before proving another guilty. The last central theme in the novel, ââ¬Å"The Green Mileâ⬠is racism. Keep in mind, this story was based in the ââ¬Ë30s, therefore racism was a massive issue, more so than the present day. Paulââ¬â¢s thought of black men going to court back then was shown when he said ââ¬Å"Appeals werenââ¬â¢t for the likes of John Coffey, not back then; they had their way in court and then the world forgot them until they saw a squib in the paper saying a certain fellow had taken a little electricity along about midnight.â⬠Because racism was such an issue back then, Johnââ¬â¢s lawyer had given up on him, thought it was a hopeless case. Due to racism, John didnââ¬â¢t get a fair trial. Kingââ¬â¢s trying to show readers that racism can affect so much in life. Teen Smoking Essay Example For Students
Teen Smoking Essay Problems With Teen Smoking in AmericaTeen smoking is a serious problem in the United States because the tobacco industry targets teenagers with their persuasive advertising. We see often in public places, teenagers who are standing around, smoking cigarettes. Recently, there has been legislation that has been turned down by Republicans in Congress, which was supposed to send a strong message to the tobacco industry. While this legislation was turned down, President Bill Clinton has vowed to continue his efforts to lower the rates of teen smoking. Yes, this problem steadily increases and the age groups become younger, but the problem will get worse if Congress does not try to target the tobacco industry. We will write a custom essay on Teen Smoking specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now Many teen smokers take up smoking as a daily habit. The number of teen smokers has increased to 73 percent between 1988 and 1996. This percentage was proposed on October 8, 1998. More than 1.2 million Americans under the age of eighteen started smoking daily in 1996, up from an estimated 708,000 in 1988. The rate teens become teen smokers has also increased up to fifty percent. In 1996, 77 out of every 1, 000 nonsmoking teens picked up the habit. In 1988, the rate was 51 per 1,000. The study was based on surveys of 78,330 Americans between the ages of 12 and 66 conducted by the CDC between 1994 and 1997. They asked if they ever had a daily smoking habit and if so, when they started. They were also asked when they smoked their first cigarette. There have been recent studies that prove that increasing the prices of tobacco will reduce the number of teen smokers. The tobacco companies know that increasing the price of tobacco will decrease teen smoking. Tobacco companies deny that they are increasing the prices of tobacco, but they still continue to recruit new smokers who are young. An estimated 420,000 teenagers were prevented from becoming smokers due to price increases in tobacco. The tobacco industry, on the other hand, is conducting a multi-million dollar campaign disinforming the public that they are not increasing prices to reduce teen smoking. There have been numerous economic researches in peer-reviewed journals about price increases in tobacco. Research proves in these documented journals that increase in the price of cigarettes will reduce teen smoking by seven percent. The tobacco industry is almost fully reliant on teenagers. According to a web site sponsored by the American Lung Association of Gulf Coast Florida, those who die from smoking each year, plus those who quit the daily habit, are replaced by one million teenagers who begin smoking annually (American Lung Association). The tobacco industry has its own words to say about price increase on cigarettes. The industry claims that price increases are disastrous and ineffective for the tobacco industry and other industries. The Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services sponsored a Tobacco Bill to ban all advertisements of cigarettes and an effort to help stop teen smoking. The Republicans in Congress turned it down. It was turned down because it was too expensive. The cost of this bill would have cost an estimated $52 billion dollars a year to send out strong messages to these tobacco companies. I think that it should have been used because there are so many other things tha t our nations budget spends on each year that does not seem as important. Teen smoking is a real serious issue because later on these teenagers will have some serious health problems. I see my friends smoking and I tell them that it will cause some serious health problems for them in the future. After the defeat of the tobacco bill in the senate, President Clinton scolded Senate Republicans for Walking away from its obligation to our children (qtd. in Kaleidoscope Interactive). He also called for the Department of Health and Human Services to conduct an annual national survey of the cigarette brands most frequently used by teenagers. Im instructing the Department of Health and Human services to produce the first-ever annual survey on the brands of cigarettes teenagers smoke, and which companies are most responsible for the problem(qtd. in Kaleidoscope Interactive). Parents should know of this problem and they should also have the right to know. Public health officials can use this i nformation to reduce teen smoking and to raise awareness of the problem. .uebb717ef05ac945a386d02ca84756516 , .uebb717ef05ac945a386d02ca84756516 .postImageUrl , .uebb717ef05ac945a386d02ca84756516 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uebb717ef05ac945a386d02ca84756516 , .uebb717ef05ac945a386d02ca84756516:hover , .uebb717ef05ac945a386d02ca84756516:visited , .uebb717ef05ac945a386d02ca84756516:active { border:0!important; } .uebb717ef05ac945a386d02ca84756516 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uebb717ef05ac945a386d02ca84756516 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uebb717ef05ac945a386d02ca84756516:active , .uebb717ef05ac945a386d02ca84756516:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uebb717ef05ac945a386d02ca84756516 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uebb717ef05ac945a386d02ca84756516 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uebb717ef05ac945a386d02ca84756516 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uebb717ef05ac945a386d02ca84756516 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uebb717ef05ac945a386d02ca84756516:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uebb717ef05ac945a386d02ca84756516 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uebb717ef05ac945a386d02ca84756516 .uebb717ef05ac945a386d02ca84756516-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uebb717ef05ac945a386d02ca84756516:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Dwight D Eisenhower EssayThe survey was part of the $516 billion measure revoked by Republican Senate leaders. It was supposed to be used to enforce penalties against tobacco companies that did not succeed in reducing teen smoking to levels set in the legislation. President Clinton called out the tobacco companies, which have angrily opposed this survey. Once this information becomes public, companies will then no longer be able to evade accountability, and neither will congress, stated by Bill Clinton in an interview with the press outside the oval office (qtd. in Kaleidoscope Interactive). From now on the new data will help to hold tobacco companies accountable for targe ting children (qtd. in Kaleidoscope Interactive). The President cannot levy fines against the tobacco industry with out approval from Congress, however, he is confident that the survey will help his Congressional allies more information against the tobacco industry. If the survey is used, it will show that teens prefer particular brands, one brand to another. It will then be used as evidence that a particular manufacturer is marketing to teens, which is illegal. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said tobacco ads that rely on giveaways and childish cartoons were to blame. Advertising persuades teens to buy cigarettes. Since the Joe Camel Cartoon, Camel brand cigarette share of teen smokers has increased from 0.5 percent to 32.8 percent. About 30 percent of three-year-olds and 90 percent of six-year-olds recognize Joe Camel and associate him with Camel Cigarettes. The Tobacco Institute and R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, the maker of Camel Cigarettes and creator of Joe Camel, had no comment. The tobacco industry has insisted it does not target teen-agers with its advertising. Daily smoking rates begin increasing steadily again in 1988, the same year R. J. Reynolds introduced Joe Camel in advertising for Camel cigarettes, the CDC said. Joe Camel was retired in 1997, after it was used for a bad example for cigarette marketing aimed at children by critics, including President Bill Clinton. I had a recent interview with a student at Worth County High School. His name is Scott Ferguson. He was a former classmate and a friend. He smoked while I was in high school. I asked him did he still smoke, and he said that he did. I asked him for how long and he said that he had been smoking since he was thirteen. I asked him what brand of cigarette he smoked, and he said that he smoked Marlboro Lights. I asked him why does he smoke, and he replied by saying, I started when I was young and now I just cant stop (Ferguson, Oct. 12, 1999). Teen smoking is a serious problem. I would like to see teenagers who are not smoking. I would like to hear that Congress has approved of the Tobacco Bill and not some other less important bill. This problem will continue to get worse if the tobacco industry does not stop its persuasive advertising. Bibliography:Works CitedChildrens access to Tobacco Kills. 3 Feb. 1999.
